STRATEGIES Ecotourism

WCS-Congo > Conservation Strategies > Ecotourism

WCS-Congo is promoting the sustainable use of natural resources through the development of ecotourism. From the beaches of Conkouati-Douli in the south, through the savannahs of the Bateke plateau in the west, to the forests of Nouabalé-Ndoki in the north, WCS-Congo’s national parks and protected areas have great potential for the development of ecotourism.

Tourism infrastructure has already been constructed near Mbeli bai in the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park, a forest clearing which is frequented by western lowland gorillas, elephants, sitatunga antelope, buffalo, and other large mammals, and partnerships are currently being established with international tour operators to bring visitors to the site.
