11 New Botanical Species in Ntokou

Funded by CARPE, the botanical survey conducted by WCS-Congo and the University of Brazzaville in the Ntokou forest (northern Congo) in September-October 2007 has revealed the existence of eleven (11) new botanical species never discovered in Congo that must be added on the national herbarium list of Congo Brazzaville.

One of the discovered species is Monopetalanthus ledermannii (Harms, Caesalpiniaceae / See the image above). A total of 458 species were counted and identified and 103 families were recognized during this survey.
