Lac Télé Monster

Mokéle-mbémbé is a monster that supposedly haunts the depths of Lac Télé in northern Congo, evoking comparisons with its famous cousin the Loch Ness monster.

Several decades ago, an enormous animal surprised surprised a group of fishermen on the lake, and the people wounded the animal as it fled past them underwater, cutting off a piece of its flesh. Despite warnings from village elders not to eat the flesh of the animal, most of the village consumed the flesh and died. Those that did not die fled the lake, abandoning the village.

Mokéle-mbémbé remained unseen and unidentified until a Congolese biologist claimed to have seen a dinosaur in Lac Télé in 1983. Local people claim that although they are not certain whether the monster is a dinosaur, they are sure that a large creature inhabits the area. TodayMokéle-mbémbé remains unseen despite several scientific expeditions to Lac Télé.
