Capacity Building
The Goualougo Triangle Chimpanzee Study plays an important role in training Congolese researchers, building capacity amongst Congolese staff and nationals, and encouraging the active involvement of Congolese wildlife biologists, university students and local residence in training activities and conservation efforts. The continuation of this study provides training in standard field methodology such as transect surveys, phenological monitoring and behavioral data collection. With the expansion of this project opportunities for Congolese nationals in new research methodology involving advanced technological applications (including database management, remote sensing, acoustic monitoring and data analysis, computer programming, and spatial analysis) are becoming realized.
