Sangha Trinational Meeting Held in Kabo
The latest meeting of the Sangha Trinational network was held at the WCS-MEFE offices in Kabo between the 14th and 17th of December 2006. The meeting involved managers and senior staff from the conservation projects which comprise the Sangha Trinational, a which together forms the Comité Tri-National de Planning et Evaluation (CTPE).
Participants reviewed achievements of the previous six months, and outlined a workplan for collaborative activities to be implemented between January and June 2007. The meeting also designated the Conservator of the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park as the focal point for the preparation of the Sangha Trinational application for World Heritage status.
The Comité Tri-National de Planning et Evaluation (CTPE) is the main administrative body of the TNS. As it includes the three Conservators and the directors and technical assistance of the four projects, it has proven very effective for identifying and implementing needed TNS activities. The CTPE has been the most active committee with meetings twice each year. It has the primary responsibility of reviewing all relevant Tri-National activities and problems as well as planning for future joint activities. The CTPE also is the primary group for communicating the status of the TNS to all concerned parties through periodic reports.
