Sangha Trinational Trust Fund Workshop

Conservation partners from the Sangha Trinational transboundary area recently attended a workshop in Bayanga, CAR, to finalise a financial planning process that will facilitate the implementation of the Sangha Trinational trust fund. The workshop was attended by government representatives from Cameroon, Congo and the Central African Republic, as well as representatives from WCS and WWF and independent financial consultants.

The creation of a trust fund to provide long-term financial support for conservation activities in the region has been a long-standing goal of the Sangha trinational authorities, while the development of sustainable mechanisms is cited as a priority in the COMIFAC Convergence Plan. The fund will eventually contribute to the management of the three national parks that form the Sangha Trinational Area.
