Governance
Many of the threats which today prevent sustainable resource use practices being fully implemented in the Congo Basin stem from a lack of governance and transparency in decision-making, compounded by a lack of capacity, rather than as a direct result of the economic development of logging and other industries. This is often as a result of related problems, such as insufficient funding, civil conflicts and rural poverty.
