Bushmeat trade
A survey in Simambondo village, District of Bambama in the Lekoumou region, at the frontier between Congo and Gabon, revealed that about 18 tons of bushmeat were sold and consumed.
An average of 17 species are killed per day, corresponding to a biomass of 65kg/day.
17% of animals were killed with guns, 23% with traps, 1% with nets and another 1% was captured. Great apes are among animals that are killed.
