Reducing Bushmeat Exports in the Likouala region

The regional forestry director in Impfondo recently organized a meeting on: “Reducing bushmeat exploitation in the Likouala region: sharing experiences and new initiatives”.

During the meeting, participants shared information, contacts and resources about initiatives to reduce bushmeat exports from small community villages to Impfondo and Brazzaville. Impfondo is the regional capital of the Likouala Department and, along with Brazzaville, constitutes one of the major markets for bushmeat from the region.

One of the goals of the meeting was to assist WCS project managers in increasing outreach programs in protected areas and buffer zones, and in increasing local support for law-enforcement activities.
